Large Magellanic Cloud Observing Notes

PDF file of my own observations  (objects in alphabetical order and referenced to Charts sections)

PDF file of notes By Steve Gottlieb (made using 18" & 30" telescopes)

PDF of LMC observation notes by Mark Johnston

PDF of observations by Rob Kaufman using 4.5" reflector - a great example of what can be observed using a small scope

This section contains observation notes and reports about LMC objects from a variety of observers. Ultimately the notes will link to the objects on the charts, as well as images of them in the Images section and to articles about them on the web. Linked notes are available for objects on charts 1 and 2, many objects on Chart 9 and 2, many objects on Chart 9 and for some objects on  chart 5.  I will .  I will continue to post linked notes in this way so keep an eye on the notes section.

As there are so many objects to process, in the interim I have posted a PDF file of my own observations to date and links to reports on LMC objects by other observers.

Unless otherwise specified, all my observations are made using a 410mm (16") Newtonian reflector under the dark skies of my rural home.

If you have observation reports on LMC objects that you would be willing to have posted on this site, please email me ( [email protected] ) as I would like to have reports from as diverse an array of observers, telescopes and conditions as possible.
